What do we do?
UNIT & SECTION MISSIONS
FEDERAL: To manage terrain, command and control of base cluster and separate bases of unified Level I response to THREATCON activities, coordination with response forces and dissemination of THREATCON, base defense status, systematic watch, movement and sustainment information, damage assessment, and limited area damage control assistance.
STATE: On order, provide unit resources in the protection of life or property and the preservation of peace, order and public safety under competent orders of Federal or State authorities.
HEADQUARTERS SECTION
MISSION: Coordinates and synchronizes RAOC activities; provides guidance to the Operations, Plans, and Area Damage Control sections; and analyzes the situation for its impact on current and future activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the operation of the RAOC.
- Directs and prioritizes unit efforts.
- Determines THREATCON within the RAOC's area of responsibility (AOR).
- Recommends designations of bases, base clusters and appointment of their commanders to the rear area commander.
OPERATIONS SECTION
MISSION: Synchronizes resources within the RAOC area of responsibility to support the rear area commander's intent; plans and controls level I threat, rear area security operations; and manages terrain within the RAOC's area of responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives systematic watch information within the RAOC's area of responsibility
- Provides integrated, timely and accurate analysis of intelligence information.
- Maintains a current terrain management map.
- Develops Priority Intelligence Requirements (PIR).
- Maintains and approves use of terrain in the RAOC's area of responsibility. Identifies and recommends designation of bases, base clusters, and their commanders.
- Obtains and disseminates information, THREATCON, and base defense status reports from units, separate bases, base clusters and the Corps Rear Command Post.
- Monitors sustainment operations in the RAOC's area of responsibility.
- Monitors transportation networks within the RAOC's area of responsibility.
PLANS SECTION
MISSION: Develop and synchronize the use of terrain in future areas of operations; develop and maintain base and base cluster defense plans; be prepared to jump forward or rearward to establish a new RAOC area of responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates the positioning of arriving units and repositioning of units.
- Monitors the use of terrain in future areas of operation.
- Reviews base and base cluster defense plans for adequacy.
- Prepares and issues orders. Ensures plans are synchronized.
AREA DAMAGE CONTROL (ADC) SECTION
MISSION: Provide planning coordination and direction for damage control to ensure the uninterrupted sustainment of the Corps mission; be prepared to assist the Plans Section to jump forward or rearward to establish a new RAOC area of operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans for engineer support, firefighting resources, host nation support, emergency evacuation, EOD response, and contingencies for non-repairable damage.
- Coordinates for host nation ADC support and education of ADC plans to support the RAOC Defense Plan.
- Monitors and maintains critical assets, battle damage assessment, updates MSR and LOC damage, identifies EOD assets within the RAOC's area of responsibility, and ADC status boards.
- Recommends ADC priorities, positioning of units, and potential areas of concern.
- Provides remainder of the unit's jump capability for establishing future RAOC areas of operation.
